So, we just bought a house in N.C! We're so excited, but, through the whole process, we were frustrated by the lack of information and pictures online about homes for sale. Now that it's time to put our old house on the market, we're not going to let it happen to the next folks. And, when you've lived for 12 years in a home with so much character, a few lines of text and a handfull of tiny photos won't do. It has alot of history; and if you love vintage homes, you've got to have the details! |
The yard is landscaped to compliment the English Country feel of the house. In the flower beds just outside the fence, there are antique roses and daylilies. Between the sidewalk and the fence, you'll find a huge holly and dogwood, a small cypress, crepe myrtle and 3 young oaks. Camellias are the highlight of the back yard, along with a brick patio and a little circular garden. The camellias, along with some incredible azaleas form a little private cove in the back, perfect for a hammock or a bistro set. |
Improvements to the house... Central Air Conditioning Water Heater High efficiency gas furnace Brand new kitchen New carpet in back hallway Brand new roof with 35 yr rated architectural shingles Newly painted in authentic period color scheme Brand new storm windows ADT Security System Time Warner Cable Recently repointed chimneys Brand new plumbing throughout |
In the dining room/library the walls are block printed. We believe this to be original to the house. The pattern was used to form the background for this page. |
There are 5 fireplaces in house. The chimneys were recently repointed, (new mortar to fortify the structure) but the fireplaces are not currently functional. They were originally coal burning. They can be fitted with gas burning vent free "logs". |
Because Ted is an art restorer specializing in sculpture, we were planning to build a shop space at the end of the driveway. There is a permit we procured from the city to build it. Since this is now an historic neighborhood, it must be in the same style as the house. If the next owners were considering building a garage or workspace, they would already have the permit. |
There are 3 doors to access under the house. It's a huge space with a sand floor. Towards the back of the house, it's tall enough to stand. It's perfect for storing lawn equipment, bikes, and such. The furnace and water heater are found there. |
